Next Generation Digital Strategies
Led by our principle consultant Paul Reynolds, we research and define a client’s digital needs. We also, if required, conduct comprehensive peer reviews, site audits, competitor benchmarking and industry best practice.
We have a particular interest in researching and implementing the best of web 2.0 read / write / collaborate frameworks with the ongoing strengths and responsibilities of big knowledge based institutions.
We have strong expertise in the arts, heritage and cultural sector, and have consulted to many of New Zealand’s key agencies, cultural and heritage institutions. We also have a growing international footprint in this area, especially in Australia.

Next Generation Corporate Intranets/Extranets
The whole area of corporate intranets and extranets is now under radical review. The best of them created real value for the enterprise – others created a lot of expectation but relatively little innovation or efficiencies. Next Generation intranet and extranet strategies offer a new look at the notion of knowledge management in the enterprise.
We have developed a knowledge management tool, The Fitch, which uses wiki, folksonic tagging, RSS and web service tools to capture the learning networks that exist inside knowledge and/or service based organisations.

McGovern Studio has a comprehensive series of content management tools from the simple to the complex.
e-government
The New Zealand government, Australian Governments, and other OECD jurisdictions all show an ambition to examine and develop new kinds of frameworks and tools to transform their relationship with their citizens. McGovern Consult has worked on a number of projects, including:
New Zealand State Services Commission: Working with NZ State Services Commission to develop some preliminary models of citizen engagement with government services using web 2.0 tools and frameworks.
New Zealand Local Authorities: Working with three New Zealand local authorities on the issues and opportunities involved in moving their existing online strategies from information points to citizen engagement points.
Web 2.0 Training
McGovern Consult is involved in a number of staff training and professional development intitiatives around the potential of Web 2.0 tools and learning frameworks. Paul has recently run a series of all day training workshops around New Zealand on web 2.0 tools and perspectives to The New Zealand Library Association ( LIANZA ), the professional organisation for the New Zealand library and information services sector.
Knowledge Management
The whole field of Knowledge Management is under radical reassessment in the light of new web platforms, techniques and collaboration frameworks. This area of McGovern Consult allows organisations and senior management to begin looking at the potential of social networking tools and frameworks.
