Reading While Waiting
McGovern Online is backing the Read While Waiting project from the Random alphabets project in Kuala Lumpar, Malaysia.
The project is simple – get as many people as possible to stop what they are doing at 3pm tomorrow, Saturday 23rd August, and start reading a book for 15 minutes.
The idea is to celebrate the liberating power of reading by emphasising that people can read anywhere at any time.
There is a brilliant YouTube video on the project here.

In it there is a truly inspirational moment from Sean Connery where, during his acceptance speech to the Academy Awards lifetime achievement award, he says,
“When I was 5 years old, I was given a present – I learned to read. It is that simple, and that profound.”
Quite a performance.
What to do
All you need to do is stop what you are doing at 3pm tomorrow – find a public place and start reading. You can also go to one of the prearranged moments in Auckland, Christchurch, or Wellington, or start your own group somewhere else?
